Grant Achatz – Alinea, Chicago, USA
Achatz is a chef who uses food and creativity to really stretch the boundaries of the eating experience. An exciting example of the innovation and research that this restaurant produces is something that goes beyond the idea of food on the plate, and expands to the eating environment and interaction with the chefs and the food itself to a new level: a silicon plate that covers all the table where food is disposed on the table by the chefs, see here.

Ferran Adria’ – El Bulli, Cala Montjoi, Spain
Ferran Adria’ is the world most famous chef. He is to be considered a Food Design Person not only for his approach to cooking (with methodologies of research and preparation closer to those used by designers than chefs), but also for those products that are actually mass produced and replicated outside of a kitchen: the coffee Espesso for Lavazza, for example, and Estrella Damm Inedit Beer.
